Jewellery Care Instruction

When not being worn, jewellery should be stored in its original packaging. All our jewellery comes in a branded box, which helps to protect your jewellery from knocks and scratches. Store all your jewellery items separately, as jewellery can become tangled or scratched if rubbed against another metal or gemstone. Avoid storing fine jewellery with costume jewellery.

Keep your jewellery in a safe, dry place and out of direct sunlight. Jewellery should not be stored in places with high moisture levels, such as a bathroom, wet room or windowsill. Equally jewellery should not be stored in places of high heat levels such as next to a radiator. Exposure to these conditions can tarnish jewellery (particularly silver jewellery) and damage some gemstones.

We advise applying any make-up, hair products, perfumes and lotions before putting on jewellery, as some cosmetics can damage jewellery. It is also recommended to wipe your jewellery clean with a dry, lint-free cloth after each wear to remove any cosmetics and natural body oils.

Remove your jewellery when doing physical exercise, labour intensive activities and when sleeping, to protect your own safety and to avoid any knocks or scratches to your jewellery.

You should remove your jewellery when in the shower or bath, as well as when bathing in a pool, hot-tub or the sea, as chemicals such as chlorine can damage metals and gemstones. For this same reason, it is recommended to remove your jewellery when doing any household cleaning as harsh chemicals such as bleach can cause permanent damage.

Check your jewellery for dirt, marks and scratches regularly.

Do not use any abrasive cleaners or chemicals on your jewellery.

Gold jewellery can become dull with wear from the moisture and oils from your body. To renew its beautiful luster and shine, gently rub your jewellery with a dry, soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid using paper towels or rough tissues as these may scratch the surface of the metal.

Take extra care when cleaning jewellery set with gemstones. They should be cleaned with a dry, soft, lint-free cloth, soft brush or warm soapy water, making sure to dry thoroughly after cleaning.

If you are unsure about how to clean your jewellery, please contact us or a local jeweller for advice.

Due to natural wear and tear, over time, jewellery may need to be professionally reconditioned. This could be professional polishing, repairing or re-setting of gemstones.
